The Boundary Signature

You are defined by your edges and by what you exclude. The form does not fill the frame, it emerges from the void around it. Your traits draw the silhouette, your bonds set how that edge holds, and your values are carved out of the dark. Play with it, then read how it works.

Build a person

Pick a sample or move the dials. BIS/BAS is the edge charge (gold approach, teal threat).

The idea

You are an edge against the void

In apophatic philosophy you are known by what you are not, and in Gestalt perception a figure only exists because of the ground it cuts against. A boundary is not a line you draw, it is the meeting of inside and outside, the place where you end and the world begins. This signature treats personality as a silhouette: the form is whatever the surrounding emptiness leaves behind, and the way your edge holds, opens, or seals tells you as much as the shape itself.

Honest from the start. This is a visual metaphor for how the frameworks layer, not a claim that personality is a literal edge in space. The scores are validated; the way they are combined is designed and calibrated, not yet validated. A psychologist signs off before any public personality claim.

How each outcome is drawn

Five frameworks, one emerging form

HEXACO
The silhouette's outline. Each of the six factors pushes the edge out along its own direction, so the closed shape against the dark is the geometry of your traits.
BIS / BAS
The charge colour of the edge. Gold when approach (BAS) leads, teal when threat (BIS) leads. The edge carries that warmth or coolness all the way around.
Attachment
The permeability of the boundary. Secure is one firm, clean edge. Anxiety makes it porous, reaching outward in tendrils. Avoidance seals it behind a second concentric wall.
Schwartz values
The shapes carved out of the negative space. The strongest values bite into the form, defining you by what they remove, rimmed in their own value hue.
SDT needs
How completely the figure reads against the ground. Met needs make the form solid and whole; frustrated needs leave it faint, its edge breaking into dashes.
How it is built

From scores to a silhouette

  1. The six HEXACO scores set the radii of a closed spline, that is the silhouette against the void.
  2. Net drive (BAS minus BIS) sets the charge colour the edge is stroked in.
  3. Attachment reshapes the edge: one firm clean line, a porous reaching edge, or a sealed double wall.
  4. The strongest values are carved out of the negative space; the three needs decide how complete the figure reads.
  5. Same scores always cut the same form, so the signature is deterministic.
Honesty and limits

What this is, and is not

A metaphor for how the layers combine, not biology and not a clinical tool. Results are tendencies, not limits. The exact link strengths are calibrated from the literature and need a validation pilot and a psychologist's sign-off before any public claim. The shareable image should be drawn from bands, not exact scores.
